- Small-scale diversified livestock farm focused on 100% grass-fed beef production
- Also growing a limited number of heritage grains and dried beans
- Humanely raised pastured animals; all supplemental feed grown on-farm using organic methods (not certified)
- Family owned & operated
Pecan Meadow Farm is a small, diversified family farm in Newburg, PA. Daniel Shirk and his family raise a wide variety of meat animals including sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, and turkeys. They specialize however in Piedmontese-crossed grass-fed beef cattle. The Piedmontese breed originated in the Piedmont area of Italy and is a double muscled animal that has smaller muscle fiber than most other cattle breeds making it extra tender.
Pecan Meadow's beef is 100% grass-fed, and its diet comes entirely from forage and on-farm crops.
In 2020, Daniel is experimenting with growing dried beans for us -- we can't wait to try them!
