5/26-5/28/2016 No bread Friday! (but lots of other things)
Quick things:
- Due to a McGrath family emergency, we will not have fresh bread on Friday. We will have Talking Breads fresh on Thursday as usual, and McGrath’s on Saturday. Frozen loaves will be available all weekend.
- Probably no baguettes this weekend, either. đ And definitely not next weekend, June 4th, due to another commitment for the McGraths’.
- We will celebrate our one-year anniversary next Friday, June 3. Stop by from 5pm-6pm for champagne!

Some weeks I am brimming with thoughts to accompany our weekly availability list. Some weeks, not so much. This week, I’m thinking mostly about things I’m planning to write about next week — reflections on the past year as we celebrate Radish & Rye’s one-year anniversary, how much the stand (and the market) have grown over the year, and the joys of being reliant on individuals — actual people — to produce our food also means that those individuals’ challenges are our challenges (see items 1 and 2, also google “asparagus beetles”), and how all of those things combined are further convincing us that we are ready to take the plunge and begin searching for people to add to our crew. And I’m also thinking about how it’s 8pm and Dusty’s still down at the stand cleaning and prepping, and I have a few more things to tackle tonight, and we still haven’t eaten dinner…
So! I think all of those thoughts will have to wait until next week, and for now I’ll leave you with this display of this week’s alliums, which I am choosing to view as somewhat symbolic of how I’m feeling right now — they’re lovely (and tasty)Â in their own right, but they are also looking forward to things to come, looking back to last season’s harvest, and also blossoming right now:
Also, I’m super glad we were able to get more green garlic this week, because last night we made Caesar dressing with scallions and it was…not the same.
Oh — and happy Memorial Day! đ
